Creative sessions with an author and illustrator at a homeless hostel have resulted in a children's book which will be sold to raise funds.
Locally based Ed Boxall leads the courses, paid for by the National Lottery, at Sanctuary Supported Housing in Priory Avenue.

They are organised by The Friends of Ashley Homes (Sanctuary's former title) and involve weekly sessions where residents, past and present, and their children meet and create their own illustrations.

Ed and the participants have now written a book featuring their artwork, plus some of his own, entitled Hattie and Henry's Hunt for Home.

Friends chairperson Tricia Fenn said: "With Ed we have written a story and published this children's book which will be sold for £3 to raise funds.

"All the families who worked on the book have also been given their own copy."

Ed added: "I was very excited by the standard of the artwork fom both the adults and children.

"We will now be working on a new project which will be bigger and better."

The books will be on sale at Ed's Coastal Currents open studio at The Beacon, off St Mary's Terrace on the West Hill, on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be drop-in activities for adults and children there on Sunday from 11am to 6pm.

The book is also available by contacting Ed via his website at www.edboxall.com
