A heartbroken man attacked his ex-girlfriend while she held her baby.
Paul Renton, 32, appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on Wednesday having already pleaded guilty to assault by beating at an earlier hearing.

Claire Prodger, prosecuting, told the court how Renton and his ex had argued over a child's buggy - wit
h Renton following the victim back to her home.

Once there the pair had continued fighting. Miss Prodger said: "He followed her home and grabbed her from behind and pulled her backward even though she was holding her baby near her right hip.

"She tried to call the police but her phone was pulled from her hand and thrown against the wall so she could not ring again.

"The victim says she has been left intimidated since the incident."
Kim Goodall, defending, said: "He has now moved to Dover because it was causing him too much upset having to pass her house on his bike every day while he went about his business.

"He does not propose to try and continue the relationship although he loves her desperately."

Distrcit judge Roger Ede gave Renton a 24 month community order and ordered him to attend a domestic abuse programme. Renton was also told to pay the victim compensation of £75 and court costs of £60.
