Hastings and St Leonards Voluntary Lifeguards are celebrating after a successful Channel Swim Relay.
The team spent a nerve-wracking week waiting for the correct weather conditions before being given the all clear to start.
They caught a taxi to Dover armed with food and weatherproof clothing, which they used while sitting on the boat between their individual swims.
Di Cooke, of Hastings Voluntary Lifeguards, said: "At last they boarded the pilot boat and left the harbour with the support team waving them goodbye and wishing them luck.
"The wait was worth it, the conditions were near perfect. The swim started at 22.44pm and after 13 hours and 35 minutes they were wading ashore in France.
"The 18 months of training in all conditions had been rewarded."
The club has been raising awareness of the work of Royal Life Saving Society UK Voluntary Lifeguard Units, and collecting funds for The Sara Lee trust as well as a new resuce boat for the club.
