A picture of a seagull sat on a car scooped first prize in a local photography competition.
A group of budding David Bailey's who share their work on a photography website held the contest last week.

People were invited to sign up to the group on the popular photo-sharing website Flickr, which currently has almost 200 members from Hasti
ngs and 1066 Country, and were given details on how to enter the competition.

They were then given a theme, The Three Colours Red, White and Blue, and told to submit their pictures in time for an exhibition on Hastings Pier last Sunday (August 3).

Passers-by, tourists and fellow photographers were then asked to vote on which of the photos was the best and the winner was David Nebesky.

His shot of a seagull, called Car Park Director, proved to be the most popular and Mr Nebesky was congratulated by the organisers.

Terry Russell, who set up the photo challenge, said: "Despite the windswept conditions a small but committed number of photography enthusiasts came along to support us in Bar Luxor on Hastings Pier.

"Congratulations go out to David for capturing local people's imagination with his popular seagull image."

David's image and a selection of other popular shots from the challenge have been added to the Channel Hastings Photo Display at Hastings Information Centre and visitors still have the opportunity to see their favourite photos until Sunday August 10.

After the popularity of this latest contest the photography enthusiasts have decided to launch a Summertime challenge for the month of August.

To participate in August's Summertime photo challenge all budding photographers need to sign up for a Flickr account.

The basic membership is free and after joining Flickr they can then join the Channel Hastings group on Flickr and participate in the latest photo challenge.
