A violent man who twice attacked his former lover was sent to prison.
Kelvin Giscombe, of Warrior Gardens in St Leonards, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting Charlotte Bywater and one of obstructing a police officer at Hastings Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old admitted committing the second as
sault while on police bail for the first attack.
Claire Prodger, prosecuting, said: "He was bailed by police and told not to contact the victim. He then saw her in town and grabbed her - pushing her against a shop window and pulling a gold chain which was round her neck."
Ronan Crummy, defending, said: "He accepts you are going to maybe want to send him to prison.
"You are not getting both sides of the story but he does not want to make her come to court. This relationship has ended and he wants to get on with his life without her.
"When he gets out of prison he has employment to go to but he will lose work by being in jail so the sooner he is out the better.
"He has moved on and has a new partner."
District judge Roger Ede decided the attacks were serious enough to warrant a spell in prison and sentenced Giscombe to 24 weeks in jail, saying: "These were attacks on the same victim in a short space of time and one of which was an attempted strangulation which she says left her unconscious."
