HEAVY rain and winds have hammered the county today but Lewes has escaped without any serious localised flooding, Sussex Police have said.
Heavy storms have lashed the south coast but fears of flooding in and around Lewes have yet to be realised.

A Sussex Police spokesman said that despite a 'busy day' across the county there have been few calls to deal with flooding.

But Sussex Police have been called out to help West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service clear dozens of fallen trees brought down in the high winds.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Trees have been brought down across the county but as far as localised flodding goes we havn't had any specific calls to deal with this."
