WAGGING tails summed up the happy spirit at Saturday's Buxted Fete which raised more than £3,700 to help maintain the village centre.
A top attraction was the fun dog show where breeding was no barrier to getting a top prize.

Rector Rev John Challis took on the job of MC, deftly co-ordinating events and organising a prize draw to find out who was going to take part in a celebrity cook-off.

Ready Steady Cook chef and restaurant owner Tony Tobin staged a cookery competition where entrants had to decorate a sponge cake.

Unanimous winner (judged by the level of cheering) was Norman Longley from Ridgewpood.

Rev Challis explained: 'Individual charities raised funds for their own good causes so the total was a lot higher, but our £3,700 will go towards maintaining the Basil Ionides Centre for the village.

'This was a wonderful day.'
