YOUNG jockeys are needed to ride in a popular donkey derby.
Organisers Newhaven Peacehaven and Seaford Lions Club are looking for youngsters, aged between 10 and 16.

They will form an essential part of the Donkey Derby and Classic Car Show at Martello Fields, Seaford, on Bank Holiday Monday. In the past, more than 3,000 people have attended the fun and games on the day.

Clem Collins, chairman of fundraising, said: 'We usually have about 10 riders to cover all the races but so far this year only six riders have signed up.

'We need to have a few more. All jockeys receive a £20 cash gift for taking part.'

Jockeys must have some riding experience, a riding hat and a back protector. They must be aged between 10 and 16 and weigh under 51kg. Their parents must give permission.

Full details can be found at www.npslions.co.uk or by calling 01323 890552.
