POLICE have appealed for help after a woman's decomposed body was found.
It was discovered yesterday (Thursday) by a dog walker in woodland by Worth Lane, Little Horsted, south of Uckfield.

Police have not confirmed if the body is missing make-up artist Diane Chenery-Wickens, 48, who disappeared in January.

At a briefing at the site where the body was found DCI Steve Johns said extensive forensic tests were required.

He said: 'Following the reports from a lady who was walking her dog in this lane police attended the location about 10am.

'They discovered a decomposed body which apparently appears to be female.

'There is some clothing present but as yet we are unable to make a formal identification.

'We are obviously anxious to hear from anyone who knows this location, albeit rather remote, obviously people do walk their dogs in the area, if anyone has seen any suspicious activity in the lane over the past week or even month we would like them to come forward and contact Sussex Police.

'I am sure you will all be aware we are investigating the disappearance of a woman from a location a matter of miles away from here.

'We cannot discount that as a potential line of enquiry, however I would like to keep it as an open enquiry, keep an open mind and wait and see what we discover as a result of further forensic examinations and a post mortem.

'Diane's family are aware we have discovered a body here today and obviously we will keep them updated if we get a formal identification.'

On Thursday police rearrested Mrs Chenery-Wickens' husband David, 51, from Duddleswell, on suspicion of murder .
