A REVIEW of events for the last quarter of 2008. Mr Michael Foster, MP for Hastings and Rye, was the speaker at the September meeting, and afterwards members joined in on a question and answer session which was very interesting.
In October, at the Bexhill venue, Mr Alan Malpass gave an illustrated talk entitled, 'Sussex Flora and Fauna' while at the November meeting, Mrs Victoria Seymour spoke about 'Crimes in Wartime Hastings', members who lived in Hastings at the time, reminisced, and those that lived elsewhere wanted to know if Foyles War reflected reality. Mrs Seymour spoke warmly of the police officers who were responsible for law and order then, but said throughout the war years there was only one murder.

Christmas events were the usual lovely lunch at the Cooden Beach Hotel and the Christmas Party later in the month - all wonderfully organised by the social secretary, Kathleen. To start 2009, in January, Mr Barry Wilkinson gave a factual account of his career as a prison officer, locally, and at other locations in the south east.
