IF you missed finding out about shopping in Bexhill in 1908 there is another chance on Sunday.
Although Devonshire Road was the main focus for visitors wishing to indulge in that activity which would seem to have been just as popular as it is today, Sackville and St Leonards Roads were well established. However some shopping areas have disappeared in the last 100 years while streets which we now associate with shopping were then mainly residential.
How many readers can name the two shops which are still operating after over a century, one still in the same family? Many will remember Longley's with affection but will be surprised how the nature of businesses has changed - there were in 1908 far more shops supplying the daily essentials for running a home.
