Council boost for advice on energy

AN energy advice centre in Station Road, Bexhill, will stay open despite its current lease expiring at the end of the year.

Rother District Council, owner of the property since 2004, wants to sell it, but meanwhile is happy for Energise Sussex Coast Limited to stay on for a further six months, while paying a peppercorn rent.

But if a buyer is found, it will mean the non-secure tenancy having to be given up within four weeks.

Energise Sussex Coast is an industrial provident society formed to help communities save energy, address fuel poverty and generate renewable energy.

It succeeds Rother Valley Action as leaseholder. The centre will continue to give advice on such things as wall and loft insulation.

Rother’s Cabinet agreed to the arrangement when it met in Bexhill on Monday.
