More street pastors sought

LAUNCHED last year to help people in trouble on the streets, the Bexhill Street and Prayer Pastors are now looking to recruit new members.

Next Saturday, January 26 , presentations for those interested will be given at St John’s Church, London Road, Bexhill, at 11am and 2pm.

Between 1pm and 5.30pm those already involved in the work will be available to chat to potential recruits, while more information is also available from co-ordinator Karen Coughlan on 07502 451665, e-mail: Karen@bexhillstreetpastors.org.

A new training programme begins next month, with a view to extending operations from May. Extra members will also help to reduce pressure on current teams.

Since May last year the pastors have spent each Friday night out and about in Bexhill, usually from about 8pm to 3am, to look out for people who have got into difficulties, possibly as a result of drink, drugs or violence, or who just want someone to talk to.

Recruits must be CRB checked and a member of a local church .
