Visit from schools minister Gove to new Bexhill High

EDUCATION Secretary Michael Gove MP will visit Bexhill High next Friday (December 7) to officially open the new £38 million Academy.

He will meet students and staff before unveiling a plaque to mark the opening of the school in Gunters Lane.

Executive principal Mike Conn said: “It’s been a long journey but a very worthwhile one, and now we are beginning to see the fruits of all those years of hard work creating the new Bexhill High,

“And how appropriate that the person in charge of education for the whole of our country should be coming to see us and perform the official opening.”

Mr Gove is due in school at around 11.45am and will see the school in action as well as performing the opening ceremony to celebrate the new Academy.

The Education Minister recently announced his intention to scrap GCSEs for a tougher exam.

Around 300 people from the community have been invited to Bexhill High, including governors, parents and supporters. They will also see the students working and be part of the celebrations which include musical performances by the Theatre Group directed by Adam Hepkin.
