A HOSPITAL staff award at the DGH has this month been won by the team which helps create health records.
The clinical coding team at East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust accurately codes records of clinical procedures to ensure the trust receives the correct payment for them from East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust, which funds the treatments.

There are 14 coding staff at the DGH and nine based at the Conquest in Hastings.

David Townsley, director of finance, who nominated the team, said they had done great work in speeding up the process of record-keeping and had been rated highly by the Audit Commission.

He said, "They are a very well-managed and cheerful team who deserve the recognition as employees of the month."
