A BARBECUE and fundraising day is taking place in a town centre wine bar next month to support troops overseas.

The event at Slaters Wine Bar in Bolton Road will raise cash for the Thank the Forces organisation which sends parcels of goodies out to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
It starts at 12noon on Saturday August 9. There will also be a tombola.
All proceeds from the event will buy gifts for servicemen and women which will be sent in parcels by the Thank the Forces organisation, run by Sue Smith, a mother from Polegate, whose son is in the services.
The organisation has sent more than 2,500 parcels to troops in the war-torn region in recent months.
Slaters is also a town centre collection point for people who want to take in items for the troops which are then sent on by Thank the Forces.
