AN OVERHAUL of learning disabilities day centres will help people gain life skills and work experience, East Sussex County Council has said.

The council has approved plans to combine Linden Court in Eastbourne and Firstfields in Hailsham under one set of managers.
A spokeswoman said there would be a shift in focus towards helping those with learning difficulties into employment.
Employers in East Sussex will be encouraged to offer work placements and service users will be trained for jobs and taught skills such as managing their money or using public transport independently.
Cllr Bill Bentley, lead member for adult social care, said, "For someone with a learning disability, getting a job can be life-changing.
"That's why we need to put in place the specialist support and training to make it happen."
The decision was part of a review of six learning disability day services. The changes are expected to take place in the next three years.
