MP addresses Cypriots
MP Nigel Waterson has addressed a packed meeting of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK, held at the House of Commons.
Mr Waterson is an officer of the All Party British-Cyprus Group. He said, "This meeting is rightly entitled New Hope for Unity in Cyprus.
I visited the island again recently, and I can testify to a new mood of optimism.
"This is based on the good relations between President Christofias and Mr. Talat. The recently agreed Memorandum of Understanding is very encouraging, and I look forward to genuine discussions between the two sides of the divide.
"What we all want is a fair and sustainable solution to the division of Cyprus, and the UK government has a key role to play."
