He is currently director of planning and development at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and has more than 20 years' experience across a number of councils leading planning, regeneration, tourism, leisure and community services.
He is a town planner by background and his specialisms include dealing with developments in sensitive locations. In his current role he is part of the senior team which transformed Tunbridge Wells from a 'weak' to an 'excellent' council, directly improving services for residents and local businesses.
Rob has spearheaded the setting up of Tunbridge Wells Regeneration Company with the private sector (John Laing), the first of its type in the country.
He has also led on partnership working in opening Gateway, the new centre for public and voluntary services in Tunbridge Wells.
Rob likes to spend his spare time with his young family and exploring the country in the family's camper van. He also enjoys mountain biking and attempting to keep his classic cars roadworthy.
Rob will take up his post towards the end September, when the current chief executive, Martin Ray, takes early retirement.
