COUNCIL chiefs are inviting the producers of TV show Doc Martin to come to Eastbourne.
They want the programme bosses to use the town as a backdrop because residents of Port Isaac — the Cornish town in which it is currently shot — are demanding filming be banned.
Eastbourne has been the backdrop for dozens of films and television series, including Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Notes on a Scandal, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Miss Marple.
An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson said, "Eastbourne is a seaside resort which easily lends itself to filming with an unspoilt promenade on the edge of the picturesque downs and it boasts one of the largest man-made harbours in Europe."
