Hedgehogs. Why can't they just share the hedge? If you liked that joke you are not alone.
Dan Antopolski's scepticism of hedgehogs scooped him the award for best joke at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival - beating off more than 7,200 gags from 3,600 minutes of material in the process.
And as if that wasn't enough, the surrealist co
median also nailed another top ten entry, with: "I've been reading the news about there being a civil war in Madagascar. Well, I've seen it six times and there isn't."
He was, by all accounts delighted. And the good news for us is that his is snuffling his way down to Hastings the night before Valentine's Day for what promises to be a comedic love-in of the highest proportions.
Known for his surreal stand-up and caringly hand-crafted gafs, Antopolski had already been nominted for the prestigious Perrier Award in both 2000 and 2001, before shooting to more mainstream consciousness with his award winning hedgehog joke.
Often boasting spectacular displays of verbal pyrotechnics, his charms lie in his combination of retro and current comedic styles: he makes entirely plausible jokes in a surrealistic, laddish vein only to undermine them later and take them on to unexpected levels.
Tickets, priced £10, are available from the theatre's box office.
