Shaun Attrell was named senior boxer of the year for the second season running at West Hill's presentation evening.
Attrell was ultra-consistent throughout the 2007-08 campaign and was unlucky not to end the unbeaten record of Navil Yahyouhi in the Southern Counties Final of the ABA Championships.

Ben White was named junior boxer of the year after winning nine of his 15 bouts against opponents which included an England international and a European champion.

Some of the Whitefriars Road club's former boxers were also in attendance at Silverhill Club to mark West Hill's 70th anniversary.

Award winners: junior club boy (Johnny Gray Shield) Enrik Rrukaj; minor boxer of the year (Jim Hart Shield) Henry Woodman-Ball; furthest junior in the championships (Jim McSweeney Shield) James McMahon; most improved junior boxer Kyle Logan; best junior performance of the season Jake Towse (versus European Junior Champion Joe Winson); most promising junior boxer Rhys Verlander; junior bout of the season Jake Towse (versus George Jupp at the Masonic Hall); junior boxer of the year (Joey Lee Shield) Ben White; senior clubman (Dave Harris Shield) Steve Garlick; furthest senior in the championships Barry Buchanan (quarter-finals of the ABA Championships); most promising senior boxer Jason Prunty; senior bout of the season Barry Buchanan (Southern Counties final win over Vinnie Walford in the ABA Championships); most improved senior boxer Dennis Buchanan; senior boxer of the year Shaun Attrell.

Training for the 2008-09 season will commence on Monday August 18 and the competitive action will get under way towards the end of September.
