Hastings-raised Gareth Barry was named in Fabio Capello's first England squad on Thursday afternoon.
Twenty-six-year-old Barry is among a provisional 30-man party which will take on Switzerland in a friendly at Wembley on Wednesday.
The Aston Villa captain has 16 international caps to his credit and established himself as a regular in the startin
g line-up towards the end of Steve McClaren's ill-fated reign last year.
Barry was educated at William Parker Sports College and spent part of his youth football days at Spartan FC.
