Bexhill sprung a significant surprise by knocking higher grade Hastings Priory out of the Sussex Cricket League Twenty20 Cup.
Division Two promotion chasers Bexhill stunned Premier Division leaders Priory by three wickets at Horntye Park Sports Complex yesterday.

Elliott Guest took 3-19 from four overs as Bexhill bowled Hastings out for 135 in this second round tie.

Simon Bulteel, Malcolm Johnson and Shaun Austin picked up one apiece in addition to four run outs. Chris Morris top-scored for Hastings with 23.

Bexhill needed 16 off the final over in reply and reached their target with one ball to spare.

Richard May led the way with 48, while Austin hit 28 and Richard Harrison saw them past the winning post with an undefeated 20.

Priory's wicket-takers were Morris (3-21), Malakai De-Morgan (2-11) and Jason Finch (2-28).

Bexhill's reward is a quarter-final trip to Division Three East leaders Glynde & Beddingham, conquerors of Eastbourne yesterday, on Sunday August 3.

Victory there would take Jonathan Haffenden's team through to Finals' Day at Preston Nomads CC on Monday August 25.
