A field of around 100 runners is expected to line up for a 5K race at Rye Harbour this evening.
It is the second event of the 2008 Rye Summer Classic Series and it will get under way from Rye Sailing Club at 7pm.

Race director Martin Burke said: "Once again, we're keen to welcome runners of all ages and abilities - the distance is good for first time runners and, of course, the event is perfect for those looking to post a good time."

On-the-day entry can be made at a cost of £9 for athletic/running club members and £11 for the unattached.

There will also be a children's race at 6.45pm, for which entry is £2.50. All finishers in both races will receive a medal.

The series is raising funds for St Michael's Hospice, Friends of Rye Nature Reserve, the youngsters of Rye Sailing Club and Beckley Village Centre.
