HASTINGS Priory's Sussex Cricket League ambitions suffered a setback when they were knocked off the summit.

Preston Nomads went to the top of the Premier Division after an impressive six-wicket win against the Sussex Development XI on Sunday.

They now lead Priory by 15 points with a game in hand.

Priory have only three matches to try to make up the ground, while third-placed Eastbourne lie a further 45 points adrift but they do have an extra match and face Nomads on the final weekend of the season.

The previous day the entire cricket programme including Priory's match against Eastbourne was abandoned due to rain.

Remaining matches - Hastings Priory: August 16 Cuckfield (a), August 30 Stirlands (a), September 6 East Grinstead (h).

Preston Nomads: August 16 Three Bridges (h), August 23 Brighton & Hove (h), August 30 Chichester Priory Park (a), September 6 Eastbourne (h).

Eastbourne: August 16 Stirlands (a), August 17 Sussex Development XI (h), August 23 Chichester Priory Park (h), August 30 Horsham (a), September 6 Preston Nomads (a).
