Hastings United couldn't have been handed a much more difficult task in Wednesday morning's FA Cup draw.
The Ryman League Premier Division outfit will travel to Farnborough in first round qualifying on Saturday September 12.
Farnborough finished second in the equivalent-standing Southern League Premier Division last season, only missing out on promot
ion by losing the play-off final to Gloucester City.
The Boro won Division One South & West the previous year in their first campaign since being reformed after Farnborough Town FC went into liquidation.
Farnborough Town rose to national attention when they played West Ham United in round three of the 1991-92 FA Cup and Arsenal in round four of the competition 11 years later.
United will entertain Merstham, meanwhile, in FA Trophy first round qualifying on Saturday October 17. Merstham came eighth in Ryman Division One South last season.
Elsewhere, Sussex County League Division Two club Sidley United will visit Combined Counties League Premier Division team Molesey in the FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday August 15.
Should they come through that, Sidley, who are now managed by former Hastings United managerial duo John Lambert and Wayne Farrier, will travel to Andover in the preliminary round a fortnight later.
Sidley will also be hitting the road in FA Vase first round qualifying on Saturday September 5 when the opposition will be Erith & Belvedere.
In the same competition, Rye United will journey to Badshot Lea and both clubs will be away from home in second round qualifying assuming they make it through.
