Hastings United visit one of the teams tipped to be challenging for the Ryman Premier title today.
The U's will be looking to bounce back from their Bank Holiday Monday 4-0 hammering at home to Maidstone United when they travel to Sutton United.

"It's a learning process," said manager John Lambert. "I don't think we are too far away but it might take a bit longer.

"We can't go out and pay the money some clubs do, and people have got to be patient. It does take a while because we lost nine players over the summer and they were senior players. I knew it was going to be tough but I believe in the youngsters."

Former Blue Square South side Sutton sit in 12th position - three places above Hastings - after suffering a shock 4-2 defeat away to previously bottom Tooting & Mitcham United, who were hammered 7-0 by leaders Ashford Town (Middlesex) on the Saturday.

Midfielder Matt Maclean is the only injury concern after receiving a knock on the knee against Dartford.

Elsewhere, the first local derby of the Sussex County Football League Division Two season will take place at The Parish Field when Westfield take on Bexhill United.

Westfield have won all three of their league games so far, while Bexhill have taken five points from a possible 12. Kick-off is 1.45pm.

Also in Division Two, Rye United will attempt to collect their first points of the campaign away to Wealden.

Little Common will bid to maintain their unbeaten start to Division Three when they host Hurstpierpoint. Kick-off at The Recreation Ground is 2pm.

Tomorrow, Sidley United will entertain Eastbourne Town in the preliminary round of the FA Cup. Kick-off at Gullivers is 3pm.
