Yolanda King has shot up the new England ranking list published for the start of the 2008-09 table tennis season.
The 13-year-old from Hastings has climbed from seventh to third on the cadet girls' list and from 15th to 12th on the junior girls' list.

South East region and Weald TTC coach, Ken Muhr commented: "Yolanda is very talented and athletic, and needs just a bit more self-belief and killer instinct to reach the top."

Bexhillians and Weald TTC player Yolanda is currently attending the British Olympics TTA observation/assessment camp at the English Institute of Sport (EIS), Sheffield.

She has also been selected to play for the South East region in the 2008 UK School Games in Bristol and Bath from August 28-31.

Yolanda, who has just left Claremont School, is the current English Schools under-13 girls' champion and won two medals at the Home Countries Schools International Championships.

Chelsea Furnival, meanwhile, is the number 15 cadet girl and her fellow Hollington TTC member Jack Bennett is the 19th-ranked under-13 boy.
