A teenager thought to be from London has died while on holiday on a Greek island, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
The 17-year-old is reported to have collapsed after drinking with friends during a night out at the notorious Laganas beach resort on the island of Zakynthos.

The boy died in the early hours of Monday.

His parents have been informed, the Foreign Office said.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: "We can confirm the death of a British national on the 21st of July on Zakynthos, Greece.

"Next of kin have been informed and we are providing consular assistance."

A post-mortem examination is due to take place shortly to determine the cause of death, the spokeswoman added.

It is not known when the teenager's body will be flown back to the UK.

Laganas, the largest resort on the island, is situated on the south-west coast of Zakynthos.

The island, also known as Zante, is part of the Ionian island chain which lie off mainland Greece's east coast.
