Cautious welcome to £200m station quarter

HAYWARDS Heath Town Council has given a cautious welcome to new community facilities being proposed for the station quarter but has expressed concern about the scale of potential development.

Proposals for a £200million investment in Haywards Heath were debated at a special meeting of the council on Monday November 10, with councillors voting on party lines. A motion to reject the entire scheme by Thornfield Properties was rejected by seven votes to five.

At the station quarter, Thornfield propose a new railway station, enlarged Clair Hall, increased public car parking, and residential and commercial development.
