POLICE are warning Hassocks residents to be on their guard after a spate of burglaries.

The raider has struck five times in the space of two weeks in the Dale Avenue and Woodsland Road areas in the early evenings, making a forced entry through a rear window or patio door. Jewellery and cash have been stolen.

Police believe the burglar targets houses with no lights showing.

Anyone with information should contact Haywards Heath CID on 01444 445817, quoting reference NM2/105523/09.

Residents are reminded to consider leaving at least some lights showing in the late afternoons and evenings even when they are out.
