A COFFEE morning and bring & buy sale, in aid of Guide Dogs For The Blind, was held at Little Common Community Centre on Saturday.
This popular event, which is organised by the Bexhill, Hastings & Rother local fund-raising branch of the charity, had plenty on offer to keep bargain hunters happy.
A variety of stalls sold books, bric a brac, stationary, cards, and a selection of Guide Dog goods; teas and coffees were served.
Quick to sell out was the home-made marmalade and mouth-watering cakes, many of which had been made by pastry chef extraordinaire Doreen O'Donnell, partnered by expert sponge cake maker, Viv Stokes.
Viv said: "We regularly make the cakes to sell at the coffee mornings and we've got good team work going on here, and a lot of people kindly make cakes and donate as well." She added: "We really enjoy baking and helping the charity – it's nice to put something back."
The event proved to be very successful and raised £448 which treasurer Joan Inskipp said was over £200 more than had been raised at the same event last year, adding, "we are very pleased."
