A hairdresser was caught smoking cannabis in her car in Bexhill.
Kelly Ramshaw, 30, of Burry Road, St Leonards, also admitted driving while disqualified when police spoke to her.
Prosecutor Peter Bolwell said officers found a few grammes of herbal cannabis in her car.
He said: "The defendant admitted she had driven to the location where she was found.
"She was banned from driving because of a previous conviction of being uninsured."
Ramshaw appeared in court on Wednesday to be sentenced for possessing cannabis, driving while banned and having no insurance.
She was convicted of the three offences at an earlier court hearing on Monday.
The incident itself happened on August 3.
Ronan Crummy, defending, said: "She was very candid with police. There was no evidence of her driving but she was honest with officers.
"She is in her first year of setting up her own hairdressing business."
Deputy district judge Mark Jabbit fined Ramshaw £80, ordered £50 costs, and imposed a 12-month community order in which she must do 100 hours of unpaid work.
Ramshaw was also banned from driving for a further six months.
