A FALCONRY display helped a primary school fair soar to new heights at the weekend.
Go-karts, a beer tent, pet corner and a 20-foot inflatable slide also featured at St Mary Magdalene's Catholic Primary School summer fair, on Hastings Road.

Kerry Cowles, treasurer of the PTA, who organised Saturday's fete, said the day started wi
th a downpour, and fears they would have to cancel. Luckily the weather turned for the better, and large crowds raised over £800 through a raffle, cake stalls, coconut shy, splat a rat, tombolas and a penalty shoot-out competition.

Bexhill Police, firemen, the library and leisure centre all got involved.

Kerry said: "We were genuinely surprised at the generosity of the organisations we contacted before the event and we were over the moon when we got over 20 donations of raffle prizes ranging from vouchers for free days out, theatre tickets and even an MOT.

"We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the day such a success, especially all our volunteers, and not forgetting the children at the school who took part in jeans and trainers days before the summer fair and donated toys, sweets and bottles for our tombolas, and for all the home-made cakes donated by parents."
