School's £200,000 swimming pool investment

BATTLE Abbey Prep School's 25-metre covered swimming pool at Penland Road has re-opened ready for the Summer Term after a £200,000 investment.
Headteacher Judy Clark said: "We're delighted with this successful re-furbishment. Our pool is a fantastic facility, not just for ourselves, but for a large number of organisations and people in the local community to enjoy."

ool in nearby Hastings Road which caters for children aged four to 11.
Russell Haggerty, clerk of works at Battle Abbey School, said the visible refurbishment work has included:
*New ceilings, marine ply replacing plasterboard
*Painting changing areas
*New toilet facilities and cubicles
*New lighting in changing areas and pool-side
*New electrical wiring
*New doors and furniture
*New Showers
*Ventilation repainted over pool
*Pool drained, repaired tiles cleaned and filled
*New gutter/boards installed and painted
*New outside lighting and addition car park lighting
*Render brick works and installed vents
*New ventilation
*New disabled toilet and shower
*Pool staff shower
Behind-the-scenes work has included:
*State-of-the-art control equipment
*New condensing boilers
*New air-handling unit for a constant temperature, and fully-automatic temperature adjustment
*New controls, electrical services, hot water controls, insulation, fire and intruder alarms
Everything was completed within the one-month window of the Easter-term holidays.
