BEXHILL acquitted itself well in this year's South and South East in Bloom competition following a switch to the Coastal Town class.

It was a silver day for Bexhill when the town team went to Crawley on Wednesday for the awards ceremony. The prizes were given away by TV presenter Chris Collins, children's gardener on BBC's Blue Peter programme.
Bexhill gained Silver Gilt in the parks class for Broadoak Park; Silver for the Bexhill In Bloom competition (winner in the South East region) and a Britain In Bloom Outstanding Achievement Award in the neighbourhood class for Sussex Housing Association's efforts. Delighted Bexhill in Bloom chairman Sandra Melvin told the Observer: "I think we did pretty well."
