Youngster Essie Mitchell handed over sponsorship money to the Conquest hospital this week - after they looked after her dad.
Essie, 10, presented staff at the Critical Care Unit at the hospital with money she had raised taking part in the Bexhill Rotary Club sponsored walk in June.
Essie's dad Ernie Mitchell, 58, spent two days on the unit before his death following a brain haemorrhage in October last year.
Critical Care consultant, Nick McNeillis said: "Essie has gone through a very tough time and has responded by taking part in a sponsored walk as well as declining flowers at the funeral using the money instead for charitable donations.
"I think she should be applauded for such bravery. I, and the rest of the critical care team, have been very impressed by Essie and wish her all the luck in the future. We will use the money raised to help fund new life saving equipment for the critical care unit to help treat and benefit all the local population."
