Ale & Arty Festival - a date for your diary

Bexhill’s very own real ale and music festival is all set to draw the crowds for a second year, Bexhill Rotary Club has announced.

The 2013 ‘Ale & Arty’ festival proved to be a huge success with close to 900 real ale connoisseurs and music lovers alike attending, and organiser of the event, Bexhill Rotarian Colin Stutely, said this year it will promises to be even better. He said: “The Festival is going to be bigger and better this year and we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of people who want to enjoy the wide range of beers and ciders on offer as well as enjoying the live music from three very good bands.”

Ale & Arty takes place on Friday March 21 and Saturday March 22 at the De La Warr Pavilion and Colin said there will be a mouth-watering selection of ales to whet the appetite. “This year the festival is a celebration of the art of brewing and features a great list of real ales, including Franklins (the main supporter of the festival), Brighton Bier Co, Burning Sky, Okells, Harveys, Two Cocks, London Fields, Hackney, ELB, Clarence & Fredericks, Late Night, by The Horns, Cronx, Brodie’s, Shamble Moose, Head In A Hat, Marbles, Red Willow and Tiny Rebel.”

“There will also be a cider bar with a range of farm ciders to sample too!”

Colin said along with all this “gorgeous and very quaffable liquid”, there will be some excellent live music from local bands The Exiles, No Exit and Howlin Blues.

With all profits from the Festival being given to St. Michael’s Hospice, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, and other Rotary charities, Colin said support from sponsors is paramount, adding: “Last year we raised around £3,500 and the more sponsors come forward the bigger the potential for the fundraising for these charities - we most definitely need sponsors to help ensure that we can maximise the success of the event.”
