Pebsham Community Centre was filled with flowers, produce and autumn colour on Saturday when Bexhill Horticultural Society held its Autumn Show.

Chairman Pat Reilly said: “Although the heavy rains of past weeks decimated some cherished flowers and vegetables, we were delighted with the exhibits entered in the Autumn Show on Saturday at the Pebsham Community Centre.

“Entries were up and over 130 members and friends came through the doors to view them during the afternoon. The tea room, with delicious home made cakes generously donated, did very well, likewise the tombola.

“The welcome addition of Brenda Amberge’s craft stall offered some pretty and practical gifts for our visitors to buy.

“As usual, the exhibits of floral art were a visual delight, and the amazing array of huge vegetables raised many an eyebrow.

“The mouth watering entries of cakes and pastries in the domestic classes showed our members (both male and female) have great culinary skills.

“As Chairman of this busy Society I would personally like to thank everyone who took part, not only the exhibitors but all the Committee, and the faithful few who turn up to help set up on Friday, and then come back to take it all down again. Without this help the Shows would not be possible.

“As a Society, we are struggling to find people to take over the roles of administration.

It is our intention to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting at 2pm on October 3, at St. Martha’s Church Hall, before the first winter meeting, in the hope that we can persuade some of our members to come forward with offers of help.

“We are holding a Coffee Morning on 8th. October, at Pebsham Community Centre, from 10am to 11.30am. All are welcome. Please come along and give us your support.
