Storm whipped seas have brought huge quantities of rubbish onto Bexhill’s beaches and will pose a challenge for the Bexhill Environmental Group on their next beach cleaning morning on Saturdday January 25.
The Group is “delighted” that its current shortage of equipment has been remedied by a generous donation from James Kimber of Cooden Beach Hotel. Joe Conneally, who heads up the beach cleaning team, said: “In January we will be facing an enormous task and Mr Kimber’s gift will enable us to purchase much needed grabbers, gloves and buckets. In the meantime I would urge all of you going to the beach to take a bag to collect some rubbish, not only is the rubbish unsightly but it pollutes and endangers our sea and coastline.”
Chris Ashford, treasurer of the Bexhill Environmental Group, added his thanks to Mr Kimber and hopes that, in view of the state of the shoreline, the group can look forward to high turn out of residents in January.
