Hurrah - as the clock sprang forward so did those good intentions and anyone interested in the joys and benefits of cycling now has the chance to get out there and just do it.
Ian Hollidge writes: “British Summer Time brings us lighter evenings and the chance to join Bexhill Wheelers cycle rides. Every Tuesday evening at 6.30pm we meet in De La Warr Pavilion car park opposite Dunselma Hotel. A short ride out to a local watering hole and chat to put the world to rights. On Thursday mornings at 10.30am we also meet again for a longer ride of about 15 miles. To meet like-minded people who enjoy cycling just turn up, contact Ian Hollidge 07708 394410 or Geoff on 07973 128105 or www.bexhillwheelers.org.uk

The future is looking good for walkers and cyclists at the end of 2014 the Government published the Cycling Delivery Plan and consulted for 6 weeks. The report has just been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/417706/consultation-response.pdf . This now includes walking targets for school children and for older people with money to assist in achieving this. It will help deliver what Bexhill Wheelers, Rother and ESCC have been working towards for the last 16 years.
If anyone wants to know more on what we propose for Bexhill please join us on one of our rides or at regular meetings on last Tuesday of month at 7.30pm in Coast and Bar, Sackville Hotel, De La Warr Parade.”
Bexhill Wheelers is a non-competitive, family-friendly, social cycling group, which organises regular rides for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
The group also holds monthly meetings with The Classic Cycle Group to plan events and discuss aims and objectives, which include encouraging safe and responsible cycling, promoting health benefits of cycling, and raising awareness of cycling as an environmentally sustainable form of transport, as well as just enjoying their rides.
