Bexhill 100 raises thousands forgood causes with a year of events

This money was raised from the proceeds of the recent Classic Car Show, which was held on August Bank Holiday Monday, at The Polegrove, Bexhill.

The charities that received the cheques were: SERV Sussex; Bexhill Gateway Club, Homecall – Home visiting scheme for the visually impaired and the Golden Marigold Club.

A spokesman for Bexhill 100 MC said “Not all recent shows have been a success, the 2014 and 2015 shows suffered from bad weather and the club incurred losses of several thousand pounds, depleting our “rainy day” reserve to the extent that had this year’s show not been a success it would have been very difficult to continue with the event.

After receiving her cheque, Leah Norman from Homecall thanked Bexhill 100 MC and added that this would greatly help them to continue their service to maintain support to visually impaired people in this area.

Phillip Osborne on behalf of Bexhill Gateway Club (for adults with learning disabilities) said that this donation would enable the club to continue and carry out more activities

Russ Green from SERV Sussex – a service which provides night time transportation of blood to hospitals in East and West Sussex - said that this donation would be used to maintain, fuel and insure the bike which covers the Conquest and Eastbourne District hospitals for a year, so it was much appreciated.

Fiona Hemsworth of Bexhill’s Golden Marigold Club said ‘This donation will make such a difference to our clients and enable us to organise outings and entertainment for people who would otherwise not get the opportunity to benefit from these activities.’

Bexhill 100 Motoring Club have raised in excess of £50,000 in donations to local charitable causes in the last 12 years. This has been made possible not only by the hardworking volunteers at Bexhill 100 Motoring Club, but also with the support of the car owners who show their pride and joy each year and also the members of the public, who visit enjoy these events each year.
