Benefits cheat gets community service

A WOMAN who falsely claimed almost £6,800 in housing benefits as a single parent has been sentenced to 150 hours of community service.

Hastings magistrates heard Nicole Pace, of Windmill Drive, Bexhill, failed to declare her landlord was also her husband and father to the two children on which the claim was based.

Pace, 31, had pleaded guilty to the offence at a previous hearing.

Magistrates sentenced her to community punishment, instructed she attend three 'signpost' education sessions and ordered her to pay 200 costs.

A spokesman for Rother District Council said: "This case once again proves that you cannot beat the system and that benefits cheats will be caught."
