Bexhill horse and rider in top London show
HOT on the hooves of her success in November’s top Spanish horse show, Bexhill equestrian Jennie Cunliffe was at the forefront of London’s New Year’s Day Parade.
Together with her trusty Andalusian steed, Dudoso VIII - Dee to his friends - Jennie dressed in traditional Feria Spanish costume to take part in the January 1 spectacular.
Now in its 27th year, LNYDP as it has become known, attracts more than half-a-million visitors and is broadcast via more than 500 television stations worldwide.
Jennie, 30, was one of 10,000 who actually featured in the parade, which began in Picadilly and wound more than two miles through the heart of the capital to Westminster.
Jennie, of Blackfields Avenue, Bexhill, said: “What an amazing experience and a sight to behold.
“The parade included the best cheerleaders and big bands from the USA; Chinese circus and carnival acts, decorated floats from all the London boroughs and just a whole lot more.
“Dee and I were among 40 entrants riding under the banner of All the Queen’s Horses and I think we did her proud.
“We were led by Patrick Kempe and his Lusitano, Teutua, who carried four flags on a long pole - quite a thing to accomplish, although all the horses were very well behaved in what was a highly challenging environment for them.”
In November, Jennie and Dee travelled to Seville in Spain as debut participants in SICAB, (Salon Internacional del Caballo de Pura Raza Espanola) the country’s world renowned horse show and were delighted to secure the reserve gelding title.
And earlier in the year, “Team White Horse” featured in top band Keane’s video to accompany their Strangeland album track, Sovereign Light Cafe.
Jennie said: “We’re just hoping 2013 turns out as lucky!”
