BREAKING NEWS: Armed raid in Bexhill

TWO men made off with designer watches after threatening staff at a Bexhill jewellers with a hammer.

Police are appealing for information after Thomas French Jewellers in Bexhill was targeted by armed robbers yesterday (12 November) afternoon.

Officers were called to the shop in St Leonards Road at around 4.45pm following reports that two men had entered the premises, one armed with a hammer and threatened staff before making off with valuable watches.

Detective Sergeant Mick Burnage from East Sussex CID said: “This was a very distressing experience for the staff but fortunately no one was physically injured.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information no matter how relevant they feel it is, to please call 101 quoting serial 1111 of 12/11. Alternatively, you can leave a message anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Several thousand pounds worth of watches were stolen which included Rolexes, Cartier and Omega. Please get in touch if you have been offered a designer watch for sale and are suspicious of its origins.”

The suspect who was armed with a hammer is described as white, 5’ 8” to 5’ 10” and was wearing a dark body warmer with the hood up, a long-sleeved white top, grey tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

The other suspect, who jumped over the counter and grabbed the watches is described as white and was wearing a dark hooded top with white markings on the back and dark jogging bottoms.
