Builder accused of conning pensioners out of £83,000
A bankrupt builder accused of duping pensioners out of tens of thousands of pounds by promising to do work on their homes will face trial at crown court.
Vincent Dunstall, 41, appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on Monday facing six charges of fraud and one of theft.
The court heard how Dunstall, who ran a building firm called Premier, targetted pensioners across Hastings and Bexhill.
He is alleged to have conned more than 80,000 from people after promising to repair driveways, fit conservatories and carry out work on roofs.
Dunstall, who now works cold-calling customers for four building firms (Haven Roofing, WH Driveways, Homecare Exterior and Tilny Construction) pleaded not guilty to all charges.
He was ordered to return to court on January 12 when he will be officially committed to crown court for trial. Dunstall, of Polegate, was released on conditional bail and told not to contact prosecution witnesses or cold call potential customers under any circumstances.
