Car collided with a sewage tanker

A MOTORIST was taken to hospital after his car collided with a sewage tanker in Hooe on Wednesday afternoon (March 20).

Emergency services were called to the B2095, north of the Lamb Inn, just before 2.20pm following reports a blue Citroen Saxo had collided with the tanker.

The Saxo driver, who is believed to be in his late teens, suffered a knee injury and was complaining of chest pains.

Paramedics put a neck collar on the man and placed him on a spinal board as a precaution before taking him to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

Sussex Police said the man’s injuries were not thought to be serious.

The tanker driver was not injured in the accident.

The road was closed to traffic as emergency services worked to recover the vehicle and clear a large amount of spilt oil.

The road was reopened at 3.50pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, the non-emergency number, quoting serial 789 of 20/3.
