Chance to be Carnival Queen

The chance to be Bexhill's Carnival Queen is there for the taking - or Junior Princess for girls who are younger.

It's a memory to treasure forever, so anyone interested in what must be the experience of a lifetime can try their luck in the selection process next weekend.

This event will be held at All Saints Hall on Saturday March 20 from 3-5pm.

The Carnival Committee is breaking away from the traditional age range, and is looking for the Bexhill Carnival Queen to be in the 10-13 age bracket, and the Junior Princess between the ages of 7-9.

Local schools have posters and entry forms.

The successful youngsters will then have the privilege and fun of representing Bexhill at various events as well as leading the Carnival procession in Bexhill's beautiful float and being at the centre of carnival celebrations.

Entry forms can be obtained by ringing Nim or Sally Whitmarsh on 01424 220217, or just turn up on the day.

All entrants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Carnival Committe is now seeking nominations for a share in the proceeds of the street collection on Carnival day, and local charities should write to Nim Whitmarsh, 6, Southlands Road, Bexhill on Sea, TN39 5HG by the closing date of April 12, stating how their charity helps the people of Bexhill.

Spokesman Chris Cox said: "Carnival Week promises to be as good as ever, with the annual pram race, quiz night and dog show. The Party in the Polegrove on the Friday night just keeps getting bigger and better. This year stars tribute band Abba Arrival, and by popular demand the fabulous 6Ts, and, of course, the huge firework display."
