Evidence of witchcraft fears found in Cuckfield

NEW evidence of the deep-seated fear of witchcraft in Sussex has been discovered at a house in Cuckfield.

The latest find of items that were hidden to ward off witches and evil spirits has been made at No 1 Church Street where the famed Cuckfield Concealment Cache was uncovered in 2002.

Cuckfield Museum's Phillipa Malins said: "It is very exciting and an extraordinary find."

The new items include another child's shoe and a metal key, possibly for a wind-up toy.
